Mahikeng Local Municipality proudly celebrated the loyalty, dedication and exceptional service of its employees during a prestigious Long Service Awards Ceremony held at the Seasons. The event brought together municipal leadership, long-serving employees and invited guests to honour staff members who have served the Municipality with distinction for periods ranging from 10 to over 40 years, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the growth and development of Mahikeng.
In his address, Mahikeng Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Tshepiso Mphehlo conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the award recipients, commending their resilience, professionalism and unwavering commitment to service delivery. He emphasised that long-serving employees are the custodians of institutional memory and play a critical role in ensuring stability and continuity across municipal operations. The awards celebrated employees from all departments, including frontline services, administration and technical units.
The ceremony reaffirmed the Municipality’s dedication to fostering a culture of appreciation, motivation and employee well-being. Following the formal programme, recipients were presented with certificates and tokens of recognition, after which guests enjoyed a celebratory gala dinner bringing the evening to a memorable close in honour of those who continue to serve Mahikeng with excellence and pride.

Mahikeng Local Municipality would like to inform its residents and motorists that the road on corner D424 and Visser Street in Golfview is now open for traffic and pedestrians use. The Municipality would like to thank everyone for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the construction of the road. We also urge all road users to be vigilant and cautious and to adhere to speed limits because there are speed humps constructed for speed reduction purposes. Pedestrians are also requested to be careful when using the side walkways as final construction work is still ongoing.
The Mahikeng Local Municipality is making significant strides in its ongoing commitment to enhancing local infrastructure, with visible progress on the internal road project that connects Jikeleza, Lerato Café, and Magogoe Koi-Koi. This vital 3.4-kilometer stretch, which spans across Wards 14, 19, and 34, is steadily taking shape, marking a key milestone in efforts to improve community mobility and service delivery.
Once completed, the new road will not only connect important community hubs but also reduce travel times, support local businesses and provide safer, more reliable access for pedestrians, motorists and emergency services alike.
The initiative is part of Mahikeng Local Municipality’s broader plan to rehabilitate and upgrade key infrastructure nodes across the region. With the Lerato Café and Jikeleza section already complete and Magogoe Koikoi is progressing swiftly, the municipality is on track to deliver a finished road that will greatly improve the quality of life for residents of Magogoe and surrounding areas.
.Mahikeng Local Municipality during its Council sitting which was held on Thursday the 30th January 2025 appointed 05 Directors, Mr Lekgoa Mahole as Director Corporate Support Services, Mr Tiro Seleka, Community Services, Ms Nokuthula Phamodi, Socio-Economic Development, Mr Ofentse Masibi, Public Safety and Mr Ikotlhaeng Khesa as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). We welcome and wish them well in their new endeavours.
20 Sep 2024 – Mahikeng Local Municipality Resealing Project in Mmabatho Unit 15, Ward 02, Cydonia Road is nearing completion.The road is primarily used to transport commuters to and from various locations and children to school, the road serves as a major transfer point for motorists and taxi operators.The Executive Mayor Cllr Tshepiso Mphehlo is impressed by progress made so far.
