Executive Mayor hosts 1st Annual Golf Day
Mahikeng Local Municipality hosted its first annual golf challenge at the Leopard Park Golf Course on 23rd November 2012, where the Executive Mayor, Cllr Lenah Miga, spent the day with businessmen and women in Mahikeng. The aim of the golf day was to attract business people and government decision makers in order to speak about the money being owed to the through rates and rented buildings.
The Executive Mayor, further hosted the players of the day to a networking dinner at the Mmabatho Palms where speakers included Botshelo Water Chairperson, SETA representative and North West African Chamber of Commerce representatives. The audience was kept entertained by performances by local jazz band, Quincy K and the famous Selaelo Selota in between speeches.
In her address, Cllr Lenah Miga, highlighted that it is important that businessmen and women in Mahikeng start to pay their rates to the municipality as this will ensure it provides essential services to its communities. She mentioned that government cannot continue to do business in municipal building without paying what is due, she went on to say the business sector must take the first step which will lead to residents of Mahikeng also paying their rates.
Botshelo Water Baord Chairperson, Sophie Lobeko-Ratlhagane, said that Mahikeng water is now ready and safe to drink. She said the residents need not hesitate to pay for their water because now they can use it and have no excuse not to pay, and that they would be helping the municipality speed up their service delivery.
