Mayor turns around Mahikeng
The process of turning around Mahikeng as the provincial capital of the Bokone Bophirima Province continues to take remarkable shape, thanks to the vision of Executive Mayor, Cllr Gosiame Seatlholo.
In line with the Back to Basics programme and the Rebranding, Renewal and Repositioning (RRR) programme of Mahikeng announces by Premier Supra Mahumapelo earlier this year, the cooperative governance of Mahikeng between the Premier and Cllr Seatlholo, the rebuilding process of the city is starting to “take shape”.
Business and community confidence has started to grow with the renewal of the streets which are continuously being resealed and upgraded, street lights and high mast lights are being repaired and traffic lights which had not been functioning are also being attended to.
The municipality has bought new machines to deal with the worrying issue of potholes damaging the roads. Waste management and refuse collection have dramatically improved. “We are happy that the Mahikeng Airport will soon be up and running where several jobs will be created for our people. We are busy with plans to develop the Mahikeng Taxi rank and turn it into a “people’s operation”, serving all commuters in our area”, said Cllr Seatlholo while touring the city accompanied by several top municipal officials last week.
